Florida State Singles
January 25-27, 2019
WE ARE SOLD OUT !!!
The Florida Racquetball Association is excited to present the 50th Annual Florida State Singles Racquetball Championships at the Sarasota Bath and Racquet Club's 6-court facility.
Florida's Championships all started in 1970 when 32 players competed at Florida's 1st Annual State Racquetball Championships at the Clearwater Florida YMCA, when Bill Caldwell became Florida's first Men's Open Champion (referred to then as "Class A" Champion). The FRA eventually became the state governing body for this championship event starting in 1985.
The Men's Skill divisions will all be Single Elimination. We plan to have Round Robin or Pool Play for all Women's divisions, all Junior Divisions, all Men's Age Divisions, and all Men's Age/Skill divisions.
All women can play 1 or 2 divisions for a FLAT $40 registration fee. To receive this FRA benefit, you must self-register and pay your registration fee prior to January 11.
All USAR Junior members, USAR Collegiate members, players of any official Florida college team, or any player age 22 or younger (as of January 25) can play 1 or 2 Adult or Junior Divisions for a FLAT $10 registration fee.
To receive this Junior/Collegiate/Youth FRA benefit, you must email your registration and division request to email@example.com . Once the FRA enters you in at the $10 fee, you must still login and pay your registration fee prior to January 11. The additional early registration fee discount does not apply to this Junior/Collegiate/Youth registration benefit.
The Men's Divisions may begin as early as 10:00 AM on Friday. We will try to start the women's and junior divisions Saturday morning, if at all possible.
Please let us know if there is a special conflict for certain times on Friday. Having to work on Friday or travel to Sarasota is not a special conflict or extenuating circumstance.
All FRA championship tournaments are "Winners Ref" events. Winners must be available to ref after their match. Anybody that does not check in at the desk to ref may be forfeited on their next scheduled match. You may provide a substitute viable replacement
Ref to meet your obligation.
If you need to add a division or change a division, you may do so on your own by January 11. If you need to withdraw from the tournament, we will refund your registration fee if we are notified by January 11. USAR membership fees that are paid are not refundable.
This is a USAR sanctioned event. To compete in this FRA Florida State Championships you must be an active USAR member, be a Florida resident, and have a Florida home address on your USAR membership profile records.
In addition, active military personnel that are current USAR members and are currently confirmed stationed in Florida also qualify to compete in this Florida State Singles Championships.
All competitors must play the appropriate Skill or Age/Skill Divisions based on their current USAR Ranking at the time the draw is being built. If sandbagging is determined, FRA has the right to change your skill division entry.

The annual "Player of the Year" awards and the Men's & Women's "Florida Cup" trophies (for the seasonal champions) will be presented at the club during a 30 minute awards ceremony around 6:00 PM on Saturday, just prior to the Men's Open Semi-Finals. Everybody is invited to attend.
POOL PLAY/ROUND ROBINS - Given that we had a great turnout in many divisions, we will have a ton of pool play divisions. The number of pools and the tiebreakers might vary by division. We will notify you in advance if the rules for a division are different than standard USAR rules for pool play and round robins (do not expect any changes) but winners are determined in order (1) wins; (2) head to head; (3) points for; (4) points against. The FRA Board will be handling putting the divisions and draws together. Divisions with three pools will play into a round robin (i.e. the winners of each pool will then play a round robin playoff to determine the winner). These round robins will be created on the site after the winners from each pool are determined. Divisions with 2 pools will play into a one match single elimination final. Divisions with four pools will play into a single elimination semifinals and final.
