DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR UNWRAPPED TOY FOR THE TOTS!
12/09/09 Email Blast
Thanks again all Toys for Tots entrants for making this event appear to be heading towards a great success! We are maxed out on entrants!
This generous turnout increases the amount of money which will go to the Toys for Tots, a program of the United States Marines and supported by the San Ramon Fire Protection District, organized by San Ramon's own Gerry Price.
At this point there are still a couple teams to solidify before I can release start times and draws but will at least have start times up on R2 by Thursday morning if not sooner. I'll send another email blast when they are up.
All matches will be self ref'ed, 1 game to 15 and are slotted for 30 minutes for each.
At this point playoff matches are 2 games to 11 with a tie-breaker of 7. But may
change to 1 game to 15 at the last moment due to time constrains.
Again, due to the great turnout and in hopes of getting the last matches on the court by 6:00 (note: currently one match is schedule for 6:30 and that is the Mixed A/B playoff), we ask the following:
- For your 1st match please be at the club at least 30 minutes before
your start time preferably earlier, especially for those still needing to register.
Those playing the first match at 8:00am it would be GREAT if we could get your
matches started 10 to 15 minutes early to get off to a great start. (hint hint)
Those that do not start until Session 2, come early and watch some action!
- Staff will do their darnest to assign your next match's court prior to the court
being available; be ready to jump on when the previous match completes
- and please, limit warmups to less than 5 minutes
Club Sport San Ramon has graciously offered food and snacks for this event and we thank them for their gracious offer as this is something we just don't see done. THANKS CLUB SPORT!!
AND, DON'T FORGET TO BRING AN UNWRAPPED TOY!
Let's have a BLAST!
Dear Fellow Racquetball Players:
Welcome to the Toys for Tots Doubles Tournament to be held on Saturday, December 12th at Club Sport San Ramon.
This is the first time Club San Ramon is hosting a sanctioned tournament and we are proud to be offering this charity tournament in conjunction with the California State Racquetball Association (CSRA), the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, and the San Ramon Fire Protection District.
San Ramon Club Sport management—and club Pro and Firefighter Gerry Price—will be supporting the event with food, beverages and raffle prizes. As with all CSRA one day shootouts, first time members to the USAR will be allowed to do one event membership for free (a $20 value) or have the option of paying $30 for a full one year membership! Normal one year cost is $50 so you save $20!
Players may play two divisions but one must be in the early session and the other in the late session.
The cost for the first division is $25 and the second $10.
Note: Session start and/or end times subject to change. A women's team may sign-up for a Men's doubles event.
Session 1: 8am - 2pm, Men’s Doubles Open, Elites, A’s and B’s.
Session 2: 2pm - 6pm, Mixed Doubles Open/Elites and A/B’s.
The divisions will be round robin or pool play to allow for plenty of matches.
The format for matches will be determined after all entries are in and then be based on the number of entries, number of courts (4) and time allowed.
With four courts at Club Sport San Ramon, entries may be cut off prior to the deadline so sign up early to avoid being locked out!
Please register early as it really helps with the attendance and setup of the draws!!
** Due to having 3 courts available the event will be cut off at 50 players
To fully support the Toys for Tots program, in addition to the tournament fee, we are requesting players to voluntary please bring an unwrapped toy with a value not to exceed $10. Representatives from the U.S. Marine’s and SR Fire Protection District will come to the club around 1:30 to pick up the toys in the afternoon and subsequently be sent a check from the proceeds of the tournament to buy additional toys. All toys and funds will be given back to local children in need.
For any questions please contact Tournament Director Jack Hughes (650-349-9533) or Bill George (firstname.lastname@example.org) respectively.
