Event Description:
We are excited to have the 28th Annual Women’s Senior/Masters Racquetball Association (WSMRA) National Championships at the Glass Court Swim & Fitness! Our round-robin format ensures that you will be playing every day of our three-day tournament!

Start times for first round match(s) will be available after 6:00 PM  Thursday 1/12/2017. Call 630-215-4242 if you don't have internet access. Play starts at 8:00 AM on Friday 1/13/2017.

Event Director(s):
Cheryl Kirk and Laurel Davis reserve(s) the right to combine or cancel any division due to insufficient entries. Director may refuse participant's entry for any reason.

Ball: Penn Green

USAR sanctioned; current USAR membership is required to participate. WSMRA membership is not required, but it is hoped you will join. There is no set membership fee; any donation amount will be appreciated.

Age Requirement
For age division competition, participants must meet the proper age requirement as of the first day of the event.

Nearest Airports and Ground Transportation:
O'Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW). Rent a car, or taxis are available (approx. $30 plus tip, about 35 minutes from each airport). Free shuttle between the hotel and club by individual reservation onsite.

Pay at the check-in desk by credit card, check, or cash. Players are responsible for paying their entry fees if canceling after the Friday, January 6, deadline.

Divisions Offered:
Limit of two divisions, one singles and/or one doubles. Singles play in 5-year age increments, starting at age 35. B/C Singles divisions offered in 10-year increments -- 35 B/C, 45 B/C, 55 B/C, and 65B/C. Doubles divisions are 35, 45, 55, and 65.

Parking is free at the host hotel and at the club.

Fun Doubles and Charity Raffle:
Thursday, January 12, 2:30 pm to 5:15 pm at Glass Court. This is a great opportunity to meet new ladies, reconnect with old friends, and get the feel of the courts. Raffle will benefit breast cancer research. Donations are requested but not required.

Tournament Check-in/Player Meeting:
Thursday, January 12, 5:30 pm at Glass Court. Appetizers and cash bar. First-time players must attend, recommended for all players.

Play Begins/Ends:
Play starts at 8:00 am Friday, January 13, and will end about 4:00 pm Sunday, January 15. Every division plays every day; schedule your travel arrangements accordingly. Matches for each division are schedule back-to-back each day to minimize waiting.

Tournament Scoring:
Round robin (and pool play) matches, 2 games to 11. Bonus points are awarded for winning games (2 per game and 4 for winning the match). In case of a tie, match points are split. Playoff matches are 2 games to 11 with tiebreaker to 11 if needed.

WSMRA has a Rules Committee to which players may appeal regarding a rule (immediately) or an issue that arises during the event (not necessarily immediately). The decision of the Rules Committee is final and binding on all parties concerned.

Tournament Ball:
Penn is the official ball of the WSMRA. We will use the Penn Green in this event.

Tournament Awards:
For large divisions, special trophies will be awarded to 1st through 4th place winners. Fewer places will receive trophies in smaller divisions. If age divisions are combined, trophies will be awarded according to placement within each age group.

Silent Auction for Charity:
Auction item donations are welcome. Auction proceeds benefit the USA Racquetball Collegiate Scholarship Fund and the WSMRA or a local racquetball charity. Auction ends Saturday afternoon. Details will be available in the player packet.

Breakfast/Morning Hospitality:
Continental breakfast for up to 2 guests per room is included in the $89 room rate. Additional continental breakfast coupons can be purchased for $8.95/person plus tax. Individuals may upgrade to a full hot buffet for an additional $4.00/person.

Hospitality at the Club:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: Coffee and breakfast pastries each morning. Lunch will be served in the lounge. Dinner will be served Friday night if play goes into the evening hours.

Saturday night, January 14, at the Marriott Suites (host hotel). Cash bar 6:00 pm. Dinner and program 7:00 to about 8:30 pm. Videos, slideshows, and awards are customary. Dancing with DJ music after the program until 10:00 pm or later. Casual dress.

About the Area:
A list of restaurants, shopping, and activities will be provided to participants.

Temperatures in January/Altitude:
Typically, highs in the 30's, lows in the teens. Altitude is 594 feet above sea level.
