2019 WSMRA 30th Annual National Championships Los Angeles

Registration Deadline(s):

Mail entries must be postmarked no later than Saturday 1/5/2019. Please mail entries to Cindy Tilbury, WSMRA, 23308 Bocana Street, Malibu, CA 90265.Make check payable to: Cindy Tilbury. Online registration open until Saturday  1/5/2019 at 11:50 PM. (Central Time)

Late online entries will be accepted up until Wednesday  1/9/2019 by 11:50 PM (Central Time) for an additional fee of: $20 .

Start times for first round match(s) will be available after 5:00 PM  Thursday 1/17/2019. Call 303-888-4461 if you don't have internet access. Play starts at 8:30 AM on Friday 1/18/2019.
Time Zone: Pacific Standard Time (PST)

Event Director(s):
Cindy Tilbury reserve(s) the right to combine or cancel any division due to insufficient entries. Director may refuse participant's entry for any reason.

Ball: Penn Pink

You must be a current member of the United States Racquetball Asociation (USAR). Online registration will help you purchase that membership online. You do NOT need to be a WSMRA member, but we hope you will join at the tournament.

Age Requirement
For age division competition, participants must meet the proper age requirement as of the first day of the event.

No refunds will be made after January 3, when jackets will be ordered and banquet dinners reserved.

Doubles Partners / Roommates :
If you aren't bringing your own doubles partner, you may request a doubles partner and/or a roommate and we will do our best. Please try the R2 list features of this tournament website so everyone can see your request.

Divisions Offered:
Limit of two divisions, one singles and a doubles or two doubles. Singles and Age Doubles are in 5-year increments, starting at age 35. B/C Singles are offered in 10-year increments—35, 45, and 55. Doubles are 35, 45, 55, 65 and 75 or Open/A and B/C.

Nearest Airport:
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) -- 20 miles from the club (bad traffic during rush hour). All airlines fly into LAX. Uber and Lyft are good options.

Alternate Airport:
Burbank International Airport (BUR) 20 miles from the club. Not all airlines fly into BUR. Uber or Lyft are good options.

Airport Taxi / Shuttle / Uber / Lyft:
Uber and Lyft are excellent options.

Shuttle Between Hotel and Club:
A shuttle van will be provided, on a schedule, between the host hotel and the club.

Parking at Hot Club and Hotel:
Parking at the club is free. Parking in the hotel structure is at a discounted fee; however, there is a mall lot across Oxnard that is free and convenient.

Fun Doubles and Charity Raffle:
Thursday, January 17, 2019 2:30 pm to 5:15 at the Athletic Society. This event is a great opportunity to meet new ladies and reconnect with old friends. Raffle will benefit breast cancer research. Donations are requested but not required. Fly in early.

Tournament Check-In/Player Meeting:
Thursday, January 17, 2019 5:15 pm at the Athletic Society Club near the courts. Appetizers and beverages. Player meeting first, then check-in.

Practice Courts:
Eight practice courts are available Thursday, January 17, 2019, except during the player meeting.

Play Begins/Ends:
Play starts at 8 am Friday, January 18 and will end about 4 pm Sunday, January 20, 2019. Every division plays every day; schedule your travel accordingly. Matches for each division are scheduled back-to-back each day to minimize waiting.

Tournament Format:
Round robins, self-refereed matches. Every point counts. Divisions of 11 or more players will have pool play with playoff matches beginning Saturday afternoon and finishing on Sunday.

WSMRA tournament directors or board will be the Rules Committee to which the players may appeal regarding rule (immediately) or issue that arises during the event (not necessarily immediately). The decision of the Rules Committee is final and binding.

Tournament Ball:
Penn Pink is the official ball of the WSMRA.

Tournament Awards:
For large divisions, special trophies will be awarded to First through Fourth place winners. Fewer places will receive trophies in smaller divisions. If age divisions are combined, trophies will be awarded according to placement within each age group.

USAR-sanctioned; current USAR membership is required to participate. WSMRA membership is not required, but it is hoped that you will join. There is no set membership fee; any donation amount will be appreciated.

Silent Auction for Charity:
Auction item donations are welcome. Auction proceeds benefit a racquetball charity chosen by the WSMRA. Auction ends Saturday afternoon. Details will be available in the player packet.

Breakfast/Morning Hospitality:
Full hot breakfast is included in the price of the host hotel room. Fruit and drinks are available at the host club.

Available at lunch time (11:30 to 2:00 or so) at the Athletic Society Club near the courts. Menus will be available in the player packet.

Friday Evening Hospitality:
If matches need to be scheduled through and after dinner on Friday, hospitality will be provided.

Banquet (Included in Entry Fee):
Saturday night, January 19, 2019, in the host hotel ballroom. Cash bar at 6 pm. Dinner and program from 7 pm to 9 pm. Videos, slideshows and awards are customary. Dancing with a DJ happens after the program, until about midnight. Casual dress. Guests $50.

Los Angeles / Hollywood Activities:
See the List of Things To Do in California at www.wsmra.com or ask the locals for suggestions. Plan to arrive early and stay after the tournament. Group activities will be announced closer to the event date.
